Stop the Political Killings in Sri Lanka!

We are committed to protect the most fundamental of all freedoms and rights, "the right to security of the person." We will do our utmost to highlight every political killing in Sri Lanka, so that one day, one week, one month, one year will pass without such killings.

We condemn the political killings that have continued during the two years of ceasefire and peace process. Amnesty International has condemned the LTTE for the documented killings of at least 22 Sri Lankan citizens and attempted killings of at least 16 Sri Lankan citizens during the ceasefire. A just and sustainable peace will not be possible while such killings continue.

Protect Dissenting Journalists and Free Press!

Monitoring the pulse of events in the expatriate community, Sri Lanka Democracy Forum believes the threats against TBC have reached a new level of seriousness. Although the UK police have been informed, SLDF remain profoundly concerned about these journalists' safety. We urge the UK authorities to take immediate steps to protect the victims from violence, investigate the allegations and bring the perpetrators to justice. SLDF calls on all organisations committed to free press to express their support and solidarity with TBC.
